French Second Language
Linguistic and Supervisory Training
This 1-week language and supervisory training is organized by the "Centre l'Istorlet"on the Magdalen Islands. The program is conducted by Leo-James Levesque, Second Language consultant.
This unique training session provides participants with hands-on, interactive training. It is designed for supervisors and school administrators wishing to develop or improve their French Second Language proficiency while becoming familiar with the most effective approaches in teaching and learning of a second language. Classes are held in the morning while the afternoons and evenings are reserved for cultural and leisure activities. Participants are lodged with local families adding to the immersion experience.
The course is organized around a series of activities putting in practice the methodology used in French Second Language Programs (Core French, Intensive French and French Immersion). Participants will take part in various activities to promote:
This part of the program will be conducted in English and is intended to highlight "best practices" in French Second Language Instruction and inform you on how you can become a strong, supportive role model for your French Second Language teachers.
This part of the program will give you the opportunity to practice your second language during your entire stay.
Goals of the Program
- Improve French speaking and comprehension abilities.
- Train participants in recognition and promotion of effective in second language learning and teaching.
- Favour cultural exchanges within the francophone community.

Target audience and Eligibility
This training session is targeted for supervisors and school district administrators, as well as supervisors responsible for second language programs in Canada and in the USA.
Beginner to advanced French skills.
Air Canada Jazz and Pascan Aviation have many flights daily from Montréal, Québec and Gaspé to the Magdalen Islands.
